I am 25 years old and it seems the older I get the more painful my periods get. I would like to find some natural remedies to help with my menstrual periods. Sometimes my cycles are heavy and other times its medium. I've cut down on my salt and sugar intake as well as my caffeine intake. In past I've tried Ibprofun and Midol and they don't seem to work. I'm not willing to try birth control cause I'm not a believer in birth control. Are there any vitamins and/or supplements or herbs that would help with stomach cramps, irritability, sometimes heavy periods? I already take a multivitamin so is there a certain vitamin that could help?

I know you're looking for remedies, but have you been checked for medical problems? That painful of menstrations are associated with Endomytriosis and PCOS. It's at least worth looking into because early detection is key, and not everything is caught in your yearly exam! GL

Try to avoid cold beverage, ice cream, ice about 1 week before your menstrual cycle. I normally get very sick and puke if I taken any soda, or cold beverage a few days right before my period began. I use to have bad cramps, too. I used to stay on the bed most of the day on my first day of my period. My mom gotten me some Chinese herbal medicine, that I have to drink them regularly. After taking those Chinese herbal medicine I haven't been having very bad cramps anymore. Is there any Chinese herbal medicine store near where you live? If you do, you can just go there and tell them your problems. Now it is really very convenience, you do not need to boil the herbal medicine yourself. They can boil the herbal medicine for you, and you can take them home put it in your fridge. Each day just heat up the amount they ask you to drink, and just drink them. It is really convenience.

I have found that if I take vitamin B complex for a few days before I'm due on, then my cramps/mood swings etc are much less than usual.
