For those who don't know Bunnings is a Bloody big hardware store similar to Mitre 10 or any other of your southern hardware store that is if your an Aussie. In Darwin Bunnings i know they used to In Townsville they didn't but.... If you go to Bunnings in the garden section you will find they have benches in flat pack which you put together yourself. I know Cairns Bunnings has the benches to diy. as to making it yourself flat packs are cheaper. By flatpack i mean they are ready to assemble and come in a box. Some cut 4 u but charge like a wounded bull.

You'll get the biggest bang for your buck with pressure treated wood. Lumber yards typically store it outdoors, so when you get it, it will have a high moisture content. Let it dry for at least a month to minimize shrinking and warping, then cut your pieces to size and assemble. Then finish it with a good wood sealer. For a better looking bench, spend a little more and use cedar. Another inexpensive option would be to use Yellow pine, and clean it and seal it yearly. Yellow pine is just below cedar on the weather resistance scale.

If I were making the bench I would probably use cedar as it has a nice color, not sure what bunnings is but if it is a home Reno/hardware store then yes they probably do, do cuts... You will have to treat the wood with some kind of polyurethane or a wood preserve to prevent moisture damage... Good Luck

You can use almost any wood for an out door bench, I don't know who Bunning is.

The wood you use will have to be treated to resist moisture, sun cold, heat etc.

It is going to need to be painted, stained, polyurethaned or traeted with a wood preservitive.

You didn't say where you live so you are on you own

redwood

I don't know anything about Bunnings because I never heard of it but they do cut wood at Home Depot and Lowe's for a nominal fee. At Home Depot it's first two cuts are free and after that it is 25 cents per cut. I work at one so I know that but I'm not sure what Lowe's charges. I imagine it's probably the same most places.

Redwood and teak are nice but expensive and could be hard to find at your local home improvement store. Try regular pressure treated lumber. I would not trust any store to cut the lengths for you as they will ultimately wind up short or long. Buy a hand saw and DIY.

Use the new synthetic wood that is out there now at any home center or lumber yard. It is great stuff and can be handled just like real wood. Never needs attention...

I would recommend redwood. Be sure to stain or paint it with a good quality sealer. NOT Thompsons water seal!!
