In a scene in which Susan was told by her gynecologist that she might be hitting menopause, she replied, "Can I just check those diplomas because I just want to make sure that they are not from some med school in the Philippines."

As Filipinos, what are your reactions on the said statement? (Please sign the petition demanding apology from ABC and Desperate Housewives for making derogatory remarks against Filipino medical practitioner. http://www.petitiononline.com/FilABC/)

Could you say sign of desperate insecurity? There are many Filipino doctors, therapists and lab technicians in America who are making a lot of money working in the medical field. There are also a lot of Filipino nurses and America is getting thousands of them every year from the Philippines. America is in crisis because of the lack of them that's why these jobs pay well. If their government and hospitals think they are not good, they wouldn't be issued working visas and offered jobs, would they? All these professionals have to pass a battery of tests given by US authorities before they can even land in America.

American TV never learn their lessons. Time and time again, someone would make stupid remark and then get fired. I wouldn't miss Desperate Housewives if it folds up.

I've already signed on that petition and encourage every Filipino to do the same.

You guys have a petition?! LOL. Quit whinning and complaining. Suck it up and get over yourselves. Do you want the media to portray Filipinos as a perfect race. I know for a fact that you can buy fake diplomas and degrees in the Philippines. In fact I've had to let go of two Filipino techs for submitting fake BA degrees. What's up with that? Who you gonna create a petition for next? Family Guy? That show is loaded with inappropriate material. And that's what makes it a great show. Don't get me wrong Filipinos are great people. I just think this petition is ridiculous. If you don't like the show stop watching it. Or just watch old reruns of Leave it to Beaver or any old 40s to 50s TV show where everything is perfect. Don't ruin it for everyone else.

That's the general feeling and perception of Terri Hatcher and her Hollywood crowd. Filipinos are fond of generalizing too and joke about it. So why the buzz and fuzz?

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is the hospital choice of Hollywood celebrities in Los Angeles. It's crawling with bickering, squabbling, noisy, nosy Filipino nurses and support staff. 80% of Cedars-Sinai Medical staff are Filipinos. Terri Hatcher and the scriptwriter of "Desperate Housewives" know whereof they're talking.

Let us not shake the trees, else Amemrikans will know that we do have problem with our medical schools and professional examinations.

Just keep quiet, let it slide, let it go and move on. Unless you want the whole world to know we have a problem.

Take this for example ini Los Angeles Unified School District Finance Department. Filipinos were screamed at STUPID, IDIOTS. Filipinos sued. They won. They didn't win because they were able to prove to the court they were intelligent. They were able to prove to the court their division chief called them Stpid and Idiots.

Filipinos are non-thinking human species. They're good at being led, commanded and they follow. Admit it!

I'm not a big fan of that rubbish show on television, but having such racist remark on that said episode is quite offensive and revolting. Filipinos should stand up and show America that they deserve not to be belittled in this field of entertainment, being in the medical profession is not a joke! But the person responsible who made the lines and the script is a total joke himself (what an idiot)! C'mon, if you just want to earn money by showing these kind of show on tv, then have your way, but as one of those on medical profession, we do save lives of millions of people, we take great pride in what we do! But I think, on the other hand, why bother on such very low remark if you know your capabilities as a professional and as a person, there's lots of issues to be given attention these days, get over it people! ....and moved on !

i don't agree with the script also but then again we should ask ourselves. is it really discrimination? we must admit we did something to merit this kind of impression. it's a result of the cheating in the nursing exam. this should searve as a reminder that we must think before we act. the whole world is watching every action we make. people in the government should clean up their act.

no, i haven't seen it, but it sounds so sad for the part of us filipinos, they have no idea how professional filipino doctors are, and that filipinos are among the best doctors in the whole world, maybe they are trying to downgrade the filipinos because we are simply the best human race in the world.
