Considering that the oceans are so vast, and our ability to explore them so small, I would say there is a distinct possibility they could still exist. The coelacanth existed for quite a long time before we found it, as did the giant squid. Recently researchers discovered a previously unknown species of whale! Never assume that we have discovered all existing species, it is childish and shows a real lack of scientific knowledge.
