H. P. Lovecraft would certainly keep the occasion appropriately scary.

Wow, well to keep with the Halloween theme, I guess Wolfman Jack would be the DJ.
Bela Lugosi, Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Lon Chaney Jr, Boris Karloff, Elsa Lanchester.
Edgar Allen Poe could read his poems.
Harry Houdini could also defy death again, and work his magic, along with Harry Blackstone, Sr.
I would ask Ed Sullivan, to host as I am not gregarious enough, or good around people.

Carl Sagan for sure. I took a course from him at Cornell over a summer session and I stil had a few questions that I wanted to ask him but never got the chance. I'd like to ask him those and get HIS answers NOW.

If I could keep them inside a circle of salt, I think a few I would consider inviting would be H. H. Holmes, Ed Gein, Jack the Ripper and Pope Urban II.

Nobody of importance. Stop and think about it, ghosts of famous people are usually tied to certain places they were known to frequent in life and a lot of folks would want to get a hold of them if they could summon them. But there are thousands more ghosts that nobody would even think of. Yes, their going to be tied to certain places themselves, but they would be easier to get. The one prerequisite anyone should have would have to be they were not malevolent.
