I imagine that the rest of the world sees the UK as a fading power stuck in its own self-promoted importance.

Harsh or pretty near the mark?

What about yours?

Lets all try to be diplomatic!

I'm from Australia - I have the impression from people I meet that they think we are a rather laconic, laid-back people from a land of plenty. If so, they are pretty right.

Re what other people think of Americans, I think that our view of you from this side of the world, is that you are a great big melting pot of people of all types, and we'd love to get to know you better . Oh yes, and your country is a really, really good friend for us Aussies to have because you are big and powerful. We're a bit isolated over here, so a big strong friend is a good thing to have.

I am involved with research to do with a particular cancer, and we have received a huge donation from the US Defence Dept to finance a lengthy research project, which may help to find a cure for this form of the disease. Things like this make an enormous impression, so don't think that we all see the US as a big bad war-mongering country. We know that there are many facets to all countries, and that the good probably outweighs the bad.

PS I have seen the Jerry Springer Show, and I don't think that anyone - not even the people on it - are really like that !!

As you can see there are alto of American answering you so that should tell you or anybody that we feel hated and not wanted around anywhere and it is not my choice where anyone is born. We ended up here cause this is where our parents were. I dislike what the government has done and keeps on doing in our name. Sorry, but I think you can take most names of that list. I did not even vote for the maniac but then he stole the election twice didn't he?? Him and his old brother Jeb from Florida and it is an embarrassment to me to call anyone an American. Our government is a war mongering, forget its own people and doesn't care who loses their home for lack of taxes and lets our kids go to bed hungry. Michigan, my state has the highest unemployment rate and the poorest people in the whole state put together. Yeah, I think we the common every day good person is hated without even knowing us, the real us. It makes me so sad. This is not the land of bread and honey or anything good now. So, the smart ones should stay away as this place is a joke, and I feel bad for all the many good people who live here and are hated also.

maximum countries have complicated political platforms which persons attempt to sum up in one notice or sentence. interior the U. S., maximum human beings polled say we've a democracy while no longer something must be greater from the fact (our united states of america became under no circumstances meant to be a democracy). China is a feudal equipment. the government has taken away all social rules and moved in the direction of a loose industry equipment for years. The living and dealing circumstances for many workers are deplorable however the government won't enable exterior newshounds in to work out those circumstances. China is likewise no longer a monolithic united states of america as maximum westerners have faith. there are various Chinas . . . the great cities are plenty diverse than the agricultural areas, diverse provinces have their own languages and cultures, there are diverse peoples interior China yet below one rule. the government will do despite it takes to maintain this technique jointly however the staff will call for greater applicable circumstances in some unspecified time interior the destiny. you could't proceed to have wealth for some and deplorable circumstances for the numerous.

We are so diverse. I have lived near LA and San Diego, people flock here from every corner of this earth I have NEVER heard anyone say anything negative about this country or our president except afew democrats who Would vote for any moron just so long as he/she is a democrat.

I have never heard anything unpleasant about the UK. I once told a friend of mine Queen Elisabeth needed a new hairdo and a new hat designer, that she looked 30 years behind times. She almost bit my head off. We are still friends, but I have not changed my mind.

I think that most of the world has very little respect for the US
We just can't seem to leave the world alone, need to try and change everyone.
It a shame, we used to be admired for the good we did.
I don't see the Uk stuck in its own importance, but I think the US and the UK are fading powers.

I live in a suburb of Las Vegas, Nevada. So, the impression of outsiders to my little neck of the woods is positively "other-worldly". First, many are shocked to find that people live here. My eldest daughter once worked in retail here and was constantly confronted by customers who were tourists and were surprised when she said she lived here.
I know many people on the planet think we in the U.S. are war-like. Yet, three of our Presidents and one of our Vice Presidents have been recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize. No other nation can boast of a list of their national leaders being in such an exclusive pantheon.
I consider the U.K. to be an important friend and ally. As for the rest of Europe, I see us all in a large station wagon with the U.S. at the wheel and the other nations in the back yelling: "Are we there yet? "Germany is making faces at me.", Tell Turkey to quit pushing".

I am a proud American,, And I dont give a ratt's behind what any other country thinks of us.. Most people come to our country for a reason though! Freedom,, freedom of speech, freedom of expression... We are usually the first to protect another country from harm .. Everyone seems to forget that though? And lets not forget our brave soldiers risking their lives for us on a daily basis,, I haven't though,, I pray for them everynight!

I think that they still think we are "ugly" Americans. I had hope that image had improved. But they would consider us progressive and rich.

But I've always loved the U.K. and all that it has to offer. The history, the music, the green gardens, BBC programs, English teas, the accents and the sausage I discovered. I think they are called Bangers.

I think that right about now the US is seen by many as power hungry and too full of itself to learn from others believing itself to be the pinnacle of all countries in all ways.
