He grew up as the son of a Catholic father and Protestant mother, and his dad would drive the family and drop them off at the local Protestant church on Sunday mornings.
Now, he says he feels comfortable in many different churches, whether it be a Catholic service, Protestant, etc. Glide Memorial in San Francisco is one of his favorite places. He goes there whenever he's in the Bay Area on a Sunday.
If you really want to learn more, I'd recommend the book "Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas." Not only about faith/religion, but that's one of the main topics.
