I think he is a good man and I like where he stands on the issues.. And he has the voting record in the senate to back it up.

Fred Thompson is a former attorney, Senator, lobbyist, actor who can't make up his mind what he wants to be. He is lazy. He didn't get into the presidential race until almost too late. He can raise money but will he top Rudy, I doubt it. He is not John Wayne or Ronnie Reagan he is an old fuddy duddy. Just look at the guy. He can barely move. He does have two things in common with Reagan, he is a B grade actor and he is old.

Read Thompson's biography, as well as Reagan's and Wayne's. You'll be impressed with all three. None of them were just actors.
John Wayne was an outspoken consersative who strongly supported Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon. He strongly opposed racist Democrat Governor George Wallace of Alabama.
He also opposed Soviet Communism so vocally that Stalin ordered him to be assassinated. Fortunately, Stalin died before the order could carried out, and Nikita Kruschev personally told Wayne later that he had rescinded the order.

He was my Senator [from Tennessee] for awhile and was a practicing attorney here. I hear mixed reviews from the people that know/knew him personally - they either say he was a complete jerk or he was a nice good ol' boy. I will say that he was a disappointment as a Senator and all the common sense, negotiating, and choice=-forcing he claims he'll do is not what he did when he had the chance.
All that said, I am left of center in my politics because of my view of the role of the government. I've tried to be as honest and honorable as possible in the above paragraph, for whatever it's all worth.

I think he is a good actor and ought to stick to what he is good at. So far, he hasn't really made much of a political stand. He doesn't seem to have a platform and he doesn't seem to answer questions when asked. He uses phrases like, "I feel pretty much like most conservatives do on that issue.." or, "I believe in a strict adherence to the Constitution.." Beyond these kinds of sweeping generalities he doesn't come out and say anything substantive.

Phoney Fred!?!
Clueless -- First he claimed to not be familiar with the details of the Terri Schiavo case, and now isn't even up on big death penalty news in his own state when he claims the death penalty as one of his signature issues. I'm increasingly surprised, and amused, by how bad the GOP candidates really are.
Lazy--in the Senate he maintained a less rigorous schedule than his colleagues, was known to duck out of late-night debates and of the 90 bills he introduced during his eight years in the Senate, only four became law.

So far, all I know is that he is an actor, and he has questionable taste about appropriate places to make political announcements. I am trying to keep an open mind.

I and a lot of other people like Thompson, his wisdom and presidential stature are something no other candidate seems to have.
Hope he is the next pres.

I don't care one way or another myself.
I don't think Ann Coulter likes him though.
Since he used to be a personal injury lawyer. (ambulance chaser)
