Don McLean - American Pie

This #1 smash, the longest USA #1 in history at almost eight and a half minutes, discusses the state of music after the plane went down that killed '50's icons Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper. This gets 10 similes and metaphors before even getting into the first stanza! Each line is a wealth of information and clever metaphor.

Be sure and Google for a site which helps break down these lyrics to help you.

Background: McLean is a successful 70's Canadian songwriter and performer, who also covered "Crying" by Roy Orbison as well as generating his own guittar-based thinking man's pop hit singles "And I Love You So", "Starry Starry Night" (about artist Vincent Van Gogh), "Dreidel", and "Castles In The Air".

Not sure if this is what you're looking for but there is a song, I'm not sure who sings it but some of the lyrics are "I don't want to repeat myself, but if it ain't broken, don't fix it. I see you burning all that midnight oil".
Also, an old song from the 80's called The Reflex by Duran Duran has a lot of cliche lines in it. Good luck.
