My kitchen ghost used to boil the water in the tea kettle every day at 2am. When the kitchen got too messy he would take the lids off all the containers and would always quiet down once it was tidied up. Still boiled the water though.

?!!.....what? I have read about spirits & things like that a bit but I didn't know they could move stuff about?
has he/she tried to ever contact you? she/he must be a good spirit becuase he's not angry,
Becuase what happens is one way that spirits don't cross over to the otherside is they don't realize they have dead (for various reasons, sudden death that's been shocking & too fast so they don't reliaze they have died, attachment to their material things or even their homes, etc), & so they don't realize they have died, stay in their house as usual, & when new people move in, they try to get rid of them & that's why you see in movies that haunted houses with new occupants are being disturbed by spirits, becuase the spirit thinks someone has moved into their home...
anyways, I would do a bit of research & try & find out who has lived there, how they died etc..
also, if you sense he/she is near, tell them nicely you have died, please go to the light..

Yes, we did at our last house, and we miss her!
She did exactly the same - she would take things and then return them. It was ages before we realised it was her taking them, and that if we asked for them back they would be there in the morning. She took my necklace and a year later, when I guessed where it might have gone I asked her for it back, and it was on my bedside table in the morning.
We could hear her moving furniture in the spare bedroom at night, and walking up and down the stairs, which was strange as it was a bungalow and we didn't have any.
She and I used to have an argument about where the coffee table would be - I would walk into the kitchen and back, and it would have moved. Needless to say she won!
We guessed she was a woman because she would take dirty tea cups into the kitchen and tidy up. She would blow on my face when I was least expecting it, and touch my hands - normally in broad daylight. I never felt alone. The house we are in now has no-one, and it's really lonely!

Not at this house but I did in another one. So much so that I named him George and had to yell at him to stop that and bring things back.
We were once leaving for a family party and my son's numzit went missing. I told I really needed it back and when we got home it was in the middle of the table. I know that is was not there before we left.
Most of the time things would be gone for weeks.

umm maybe your daughter didn't want to play music and hid it, start with the most plausable explination first.
As for playful ghosts, we moved to a new house a few months back and one of the drawers in the kitchen seems to be open every morning, still not found out how or why its happening.

I half believe in ghosts. Never had a playful one. My one son reckons they have one in their house. It kept moving the children's toys and lining them up. Weird! I suppose that's playful. The ghost is supposed to be the old man who died there and my daughter-in-law actually knew him when she was a little girl, because they have bought the house next door to her mom.

I have one that does the washing up for me occasionally.
i also knew one in a workshop that would find missing tools for you. All you had to do was ask it to find a tool you had mislaid (it may have hidden it) go for a coffee then come back and the tool would be back in it's proper place.
Have you tried asking it to find the missing items?

Things keep disappearing in my house. I always know exactly where I put stuff, and when I go to get it, it's gone. And it never, ever turns up.
If there's a ghost nicking stuff in my house, it's keeping my stuff!!

Don't getr hung up on a Spirit, when it could just as easily be a Sprite.
Not the Soda Pop, Sprite . A real one.
