Neither. I elected my Senators to pass laws that constituents like me agree with, and vote against laws that donstituents like me disagree with. I also elected them to determine government policy on the same basis.
Some outsiders, like talk show hosts, want to do verbal battle. It's really up to the Senator, but if he wants to, he has that right. It also lets me know whether he's still in agreement with the reasons I voted for him in the first place. I seriously doubt that my Senators will ever do battle with America's true enemies as that's what we have the police and the military for. However, I did vote for him to pass laws and policy concerning that just as stated in the first paragraph.
You know, SOME of us really can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Well, it's pretty much par for the course with this crowd. Once again, Harry and Nancy's Mickey Mouse Club don't have the facts and once again they make complete fools of themselves. And look how even this is turning out for them? It's coming back to hit them in the...well, in sensitive areas of their anatomy. They can't even do this right!
And the American people are watching. With all the serious issues facing the nation, how deluded must the leftists in this country be to think that America will not wash itself clean of this trash in 2008?

No. I elected them to get a little legislation done. Hopefully as little legislation as possible. And ideally legislation to not take as much money out of my pocket or at least put it into programs that work.
What is today's senate all about? Uhhhh... getting on TV with the appropriate sound bite?
Why did you people put these people in there? We either believed thier campaign or picked them as the least of 2 evils.

Brilliant question. What's sad is our leaders are not smart enough to realize talk show hosts and 'news' stations are purely entertainment and ignore them and deal with real business. What's even sadder is if someone like Hillary, who is at war with Fox News and believes all the anti-American propaganda CNN and the BBC put out, gets elected.

Truth is a powerful defense. If a talk show host has lied about someone and they are called on it, so what, do they have the right to deliberately lie because it suits their purpose?
If they are trying to sway opinions and are lying to do it, don't you want to know?
They have done something today to make us all put our money where our mouth is.
A surtax on our income to pay for the war.
No more fight now, bill me later...like after the next election later. You want to buy a ten billion dollar war, put your cash money on the table.
Do I hear a squeal from the conservatives on that?

NEITHER!!! You elect a Senator to represent your ideals, morals, social feeling and to be a champion of your state. Often in American History, politicians who stray from their primary polictical obligations, end up becomeing ineffective or even worse a butt of jokes (McCarthy, WJ Bryan, etc) Elect someone that you think can represent YOU!!

Hmmmm.... Do we elect Senators to put forth a bill showing Senate support for General Petraeus. In case you forgot Senator John Cornyn (R. TX) did just that.
It happens on both sides of the aisle. Dont' forget it!!!

My Senator is elected so that he can pull as much pork barrel spending to my state. Screw the other 49.

Neither.
I elected my senator to represent me in Congress.
That is their purpose.
Not to argue with Rush, or Moveon, or anyone else for that matter.
