no, since an acorn does not equal an oak tree, neither does a mass of cells equal a fully formed human being.
pregnancy (being a guy i know you don't understand this) completely destroys your body in every single way imaginable. from skin that is stretched out to internal stretching that never goes back down. Its a horrible experience.
I know this wont be a popular answer.
like a scar leaves its residue, so does a pregancy.
You shouldn't be forced to make that kind of choice, esp because of somebody else's beliefs.
I pray for the day when the cells can just be transferred to someone else who wants it. Maybe that will be acompromise everyone can live with

I think people should be responsible for their actions (specially when they become legally adults), and I oppose to abortion, except when is very justifiable circunstances, such as the woman was raped (and so, she didn't voluntarily participate in the act), the child will be seriously and permanently disabled (and so, will undoubtedly have a miserable existence), and if the child puts the mother's life at risk...
Anyway, I remember reading that from a scientific point of view, unborn children act like parasites (I no longer remember the exact justification, but it is probably because the child is nurtured through the mother's bloodstream, or so...)
So, I'm afraid to say that statement doesn't shock me...
People have to choose the best words to support their cause... and with that statement, I have to recognize I'm sure that feminists or any pro-abortion people will succeed in being heard by many...
But as an argument against abortion, I like this question:
"If abortion is okay, why shouldn't death penalty or euthanasia also be?..."
(There are certainly other arguments, depending on the context...)

I agree that they are parasitic, but I do not agree that they should be aborted for absolutely no reason. I believe women should have the right to choose abortion but when given examples of women who have had at least 7 abortions because they considered a form of birth control (friend of a friend example) I am beyond displeased.
What else would you call something that gets the best of everything a mother has to offer. A fetus gets nutrients above a mother and if a woman is fatally wounded her body will spend the last of it's energy and the last of her life attempting to give birth. It is something that has no means of surviving or recieving nutrients beyond that of it's 'host.'

No. I agree. I had an abortion at 5 weeks. At 5 weeks it is NOT fetus, but an embryo, no different at that stage than a shark or dog embryo. I had an abortion due to cancer. I had one to save my own life. What an agonizing choice; if you haven't been in my shoes, don't judge, and pray that you are never in that position.
For all of you giving the moral argument of "Abortion should only be legal for rape victims and medical reasons": Think about that. Long and hard. How would a woman prove she was raped? Bring her rapist in so he can affirm that yes indeed I raped this woman a few months back? Most rapes aren't even reported, and even fewer still are prosecuted and convicted. It is a nice idea you have, but too simple for real life. All it would do is make women who have been raped suffer the burden of proof, and women who have not been raped would lie to get the abortion.

Just because a woman decides to not have children does not mean we think of them as parasites. Choosing not to be a parent was a decision based on knowing myself very well.
And as Melimar said, if you don't want children practice birth control.

Many people have no problem killing a live chicken, or cow, or pig. technically an abortion isnt necessarilly killing a "person" or a "baby." Do you eat eggs? because if you do its basically the same thing. a life is a life it doesnt matter who it belongs to. and besides do you have any idea how painful it is to have a baby? didnt think so.

I know a lot of men who think this too. Go figure.
Edit: Uh oh, you got me, I hate men. I've been hiding behind this facade of a straight female with a wonderful relationship with her fiance, brother, and father, as well as having more male friend than females. How did you ever find me out? Are you like psychic or something?
::sarcasm::
But seriously, childish behavior aside, "go figure" means your question was narrow minded, trollish, and stupid. I know very few people, including feminists and pro-choicers, who could equate children to being parasites and think that abortion should be taken as lightly as you imply.

Nope doesn't disturb me one bit. In no way does they action affect my life. I thinks its a little sad, an embryo as early as 6.5 weeks has a visable heartbeat on an ultrasound. Nor do I think this is something that shoudl be used or even considered as a form of birth control.
But disturbing me?? I am in noway in their shoes and I cannot tell someone what is right for them... the pedophiles that run around molesting innocent children? now THEY DO disturb me.

Yep, big time. Now this is the gaser. They go out there get themselves knocked up, put the blame on the guy for not wearing a condom, intervened with see how strong I am, and or for being stupid for not taking a form of birthcontrol, it's my body, whine I never wanted to get pregnant, it's my body, I'll do what I want because I am so strong and kill an unborn child.
