It is probably just old blood, but a pregnancy test wouldn't hurt (and may help ease her mind)

sometimes brown discharge is "old blood" expelled from the uterus from your last period. sometimes is it a sign of pregnancy. I would do a home test to be sure, otherwise nothing to worry about.
