Blonde hair (before coloring) was rare. In order to have any color of hair other then brunette or brown there has to have been that color hair genes on both sides of the family.

For red hair it is even rarer the genes not only have to be on both sides of the family but they also have to be within three generations. meaning the parents, grandparents or greatparents. Unfortunitly for redheads old bible thumpers believed the red hair was a sign of evil which came from the old use of the color red to mean danger.

On another note it is believe that people with blonde hair and blues eyes have perfect genes. Hitler was one of those believers and wished to create "the perfect race" he called them arians and was breading people who had both traits.

I supposes it is due to the rarity of natural blond hair. I have not heard of it being considered lucky. Do you know of any cultures you can name? I would be interested to know.

In my own experience, many Chinese people are really fascinated by my blond haired blue eyed Granddaughter. I guess because she looks so different than their own children. On the other hand, I think most Chinese children are about a cute as I can stand and they seem to behave better than most white kids.

Many people would prefer to have hair, eyes, skin color etc. of another person. If it's rare in a society, it's different, thus people will likely either a) want it (like some want blond hair) b) discriminate against it (like people used to beat red-heads) or c) not care. I think everybody looks the best when they keep their hair their own natural color; what I don't like personally is when people die their hair because they think it makes them look better. That's just me, though.

Because true blonde hair is rare in many cultures, so it is considered fortunate when something unusual like this occurs.

Because one day, 2 people were biten by a polar bear who was infected with rabbies. The dark haired girl died but the blond girl survived this ordeal so people thought that the blond hair bring luck.

Well I think it is a European view of what is considered beauty.

The eurocentric view...lord knows there are so many different types of people in the world. Not everyone is white...lol

I think blonde hair is pretty when it is natural and not the, "I wanna look like barbie because I am fake and insecure...and guys will like me beause my hair is blonde." That so irritates me.
