I'm considering buying a PS2. How much longer will they be "in style"? Also, I'm into football, baseball, and shooting games, like James Bond. What games would you recommend? ty!

You've really missed out on the PS2, Most of the earlier games that were in production aren't even being made anymore and are pretty hard to find. In my opinion, you need to save your money up for a 60GB PS3, that way you can play PS2 games and PS3 games. At least with the PS3 you'll be current and up-to-date.

The PS2 had thousands of games released though, but you won't see most of them in stores anymore because they aren't being made anymore. The only way to track them down would be Ebay or some other website.

I say that game producers will continue making games for the PS2 for at least until February next year, I can't imagine them making games for the PS2 past that point. I have a PS3 and it's worth the buy.

The PS2 has some of the greatest, funnest games in the history of consoles. Unfortunately, they'll probably stop making games for it soon, I'm thinking by the end of next year perhaps.

The greatest games are probably, The Guitar Hero series(they're making a gh3 for ps2 thankfully)

The Jak and Daxter series (preferably Jak II, and Jak 3)

And Sly Cooper (get past the obvious kiddy-ness)

And THE best fps/3rdps shooter of all is the Ratchet and Clank series, the of all 4 (5th game coming soon) is Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal.

Your better off just getting the PS3 because it can play ps2 games anyway. I know it costs more, but in the long run it will pay off because your going to want new and better games. So I know the ps3 will costs about 300$ more then getting a ps2, but just save ur money, its worth it!

Don't get a PS2, if you're considering buying one then I guess your short of budget, get an Xbox360. Halo 3 just came out, and it is THE BEST GAME EVAR. Or, if you don't mind playing keyboard and mouse, get a good PC for same price as the 360, possibly more if you want better.

Yeah go for it, you can get it brand new for $129 and its still a lot of fun with TONS of games. AND they are still coming out with new games for it that cost $20 brand new. PS2 will never go out of style. Make sure to get GTA San Andreas, its a lot of fun and any of the NCAA or Madden football games are good

edit.
nevermind everyone else is right, 360 rules and they are not too expensive anymore
