I learned that "tonic" is not Geritol
That "tonic" is that horrible tasting stuff in a soda bottle,
tonic is soda in my "lingo"
Tonic in New England, is Coke, Pepsi, Ginger Ale, etc.

Scotch and soda is NOT any old soda in the refridgerator. Scotch and root beer are not good, I am told

I drink "soda" here in the South, but when I lived up north, I called it "pop" for years, then all of a sudden, I called it "soda." Maybe it's because for a short time, I lived in New England & they called it "soda." They called "submarine sandwiches," "grinders" & they do here in the south, but I still refer to them as "subs."

On the west coast Pepsi was Pop on the south east coast it was soda. I like scotch on the rocks, vodka with a twist and I love tonic water but it gives me a terrible head ache, guess it is the quinine in it. Oh well at least I won't get malaria. I also 'drank' tea without a lb of sugar in it.

I get very confused.
Not about this.
That was just a statement.

Soda over here in the UK is fizzy water that the English pollute Scotch whisky with.
Coke is coke if used with a straw from a bottle or can
Tonic is what we put in gin if we don't want Mother to fall over!

And we buy French water that costs more than wine!

Until we moved from northern Michigan, I drank POP and didn't drink POP(except for short visits 'back home') until I was stationed in Great Lakes, IL and my Chicago gf drank POP. Now, down here in s.e. Va, we drink SODA.
