Its like calling a Conservative Republican a Liberal just because he doesn't support the war!

Yes. Your appearance has no direct correlation to your ideology.
I think hippies can look conservative and still be a hippie.

My parents were hippies. Both say that true hippies no longer exist, and I believe it. Hippies emerged from an era that is so different from the present day that it could have taken place on another planet. So the short answer to your question is no. But the same would be true of a person with long hair who does smoke pot and has no job. Today, such a person is called "homeless."

That part of the question you are talking about was silly at best. Unfortunately though the answer is yes. For some people, if you do not conform to their tight mold of the way things should be you are an open target for whatever names they can think of at the time. I am an Independent Conservative and I tend to upset people on both sides depending on the issue at the time. As a result I have been called everything imaginable. My personal favorite was "Ignorant conservative Bush supporter". It was funny because the answer at the time was not really complimentary of Bush, but people only see what they want to see most of the time.

A lot of people on here call me a liberal on here JUST because I am against this war. They are completely stupid and really know little about politics.
At the same time, I don't think there is nothing wrong with people being liberals or conservatives. It is the close minded and insulting ones (of both sides) that I have a problem with.

obviously most of the time people don't know the definition of the terms they use. they are like a parrot and make sounds that they have no idea what they mean. some one who is anti-war may be called a Hippie! there is a lot more to that term. philosophically they are existentialists. these parrots use to call them Commies then! peace

People are ignorant, judgemental and all around stupid...I personally like the label of a hippie, it's alot better than some of the things I have been called! Consider yourself fortunate, lol :)
