It existed much farther back, my child. Well before Guy Lombardo, and back to "Auld Lang Syne" ( 1700's) by Robert Burns, which may have been inspired by yet another poem from the 1500's. Yes, New Years is at least several hundred years old, and Dick Clark is getting that old as well.
