He's right about Charlie Pride. My father had an eight-track of Pride's hits, back in the early Seventies (I think it was). Although my sister and I didn't like C&W, we actually didn't mind this tape.
Other songs on it were "Kiss an Angel Good Morning", "Is Anybody Going to San Antone?" and "Kaw-Liga". The last song was already familiar to us because Hank Williams recorded it way back, before radio stations split into various groups. Once upon a time, they used to play all of the hits, so we grew up with a wide variety of music.
The weird thing is that I was trying to track down that particular album but haven't been able to find it. It was one of those bargain-bin finds that is a compilation of songs. I'd like to have a working copy again, just to remind me of Dad at the wheel, driving us someplace fun. Knowing Dad, it was a last-minute adventure!

Written and performed by this underrated blues specialist. Don't you mean Charlie Rich did this? Rich and O'Keefe are similar artists.
