A strong military IS essential to the USA. And the Dems have done nothing but gut the military like a fish every chance they get.

Oh, you really know how to get me going. Clinton firstly emasculated the Military and undermined the intelligence agencies. Pelosi, Clinton, and many others want to cut funding to the military. Thank God when Congress vetos funding, it goes to the House to get past.
The Demcrats want a time line to notify the enemy to hang tight, and we will let you know our plans on leaving, so you can take over and we, the Democrats will be able to justify our position even more as to why this war was wrong. Those who died in this conflict wasted their lives, according to the Liberals.

The Democrats do not care about the real consequences of early withdrawal from the war in iraq.

Yes, we do need a strong military, and better intelligence capabilites. We need to secure our borders, and much more.

Despite the efforts of Clinton, a strong military always has and always will be essential to the US.

Of course. If our military isn't strong, that makes our country WEAK. We can't be weak, we ARE America!
BTW, F the dems, we Conservatives are stong enough to keep America strong, alive, safe, and free without their help. Because you see, the majority, 90% of American Military ARE Conservative! They're not taking any Liberal BS, but ignoring it! THAT really ticks off Liberals!

A strong economy and a strong military are essential to our security, the preservation of our freedom and to our prosperity. But power must always be deployed in service to our basic ideals: individual liberty, equal justice, and opportunity for all.

I agree with Suthyrnlyts.

Don C. Clinton closed off many bases around the country and only increased the cuts on military. Go back to school buddy.

Strong. As in well equiped, well fed, strong physically/mentally
Not put through so many tours their families fall apart. That their minds don't snap over the horrors that is war. Strong to defend the USA. Well managed, not abused strong. This is not a Dem/Con issue. But an issue for all of us. Our military is being abused and it's a shame.

Yes.

The USA needs a strong Navy more than anything, as the USA is a trade power, similar to the Dutch in the past.

Considering that piracy on the high seas is up about 250% in the last ten years, and China want to have the largest NAVY in 25 years, we need a large NAVY.

A well organized NAVY, reliant on aircraft carriers with submarine and destroyer escorts, can meet our global deployment needs. The NAVY is the backbone of our ability to project global force, and we need global force projection to protect our trade assets.

The AIR FORCE is better at destroying, and the NAVY at protecting.

Dems more so, but Reps as well, have cut our military to the bone and placed us in a similar situation that Truman found himself in. With the USSR expanding, Truman could not contain them. With cutting now, China will expand, we will not contain them, and a new Cold War will emerge.
