The botanical definitiion of fruit is "a matured, ripened ovary with accessory structures". The ovary becomes the fruit... seeds are normally inside but may not develop, as in the cases you mention.
Vegetables are edible portions of plants that are leaf, stem or root in structure, as opposed to fruits, derived from reproductive structures.

They both are Ideal for your health. If you eat both, you're better off. But yea, I'd personally choose fruits because they taste better.

It is determined by the fruit or veg linked to a comparison. If perhaps you compare a n to a carrot, the carrot is the better of the two nutritional. But since you compare an avocado to the carrot, then an avocado is better. Both equally the apple and avocado, are fruits.

If anything with a seed is a fruit, then what about beans or peas? What about corn? In fact, radishes and carrots have seeds.
The actual definition of a vegetable is hard to define. I looked on wiki for a good one and they kind of give one. Still a bit hazy though.

There are other factors that contribute to "what makes something a fruit" vs "What makes something a vegetable".
Leaves, direction of growth, ground roots/vines, all of that comes into play, too.
They're just genetically modified fruits, really.

Fruit - continues to ripen after it is picked. (Tomatoes, bananas, peaches, pears, apples). Many get better after being allowed to ripen fully.
Vegetables - start to decompose as soon as they are picked (lettuce, cucumbers, corn) They should be eaten as soon as possible after picking, they won't get any better.
