I'm 32 y/o, married, professional and have 1 daughter. I don't have a degree but I've been in the customer care field for almost 15 years, working my way up thru the ranks. My wife graduates this year with a Bachelor's degree in Business Mgt. and a minor in Marketing. Where-as I am still searching for what I want to be when I grow up. I hate my job, and I pretty sure that the field I'm in is not for me anymore. Like I said I don't have a degree, but I don't even know what I want to go back to school to be. I am so depressed that I can't even crack a smile or eat lunch today, and on top of that its my 3 year wedding anniversary. We live in Nashville TN and I don't even know if this is the city for me. I need honest no BS answers here...

get out of tn and come to california or somewhere where theres more opportunity.

take a step back and look at what you enjoy in life. then apply it to a new career.

be happy for your wife. sit down with her and ask her how she did it. maybe she can give you some advice.

happy anniversary to you 2.

but trust me it isnt the end of the world. :)

I think many schools have counselors who could help you pick out something that arouses your interest but in the meantime just look through the paper and see what jobs there interest you. It may be that you are feeling a failure because your wife has these degrees and you do not but that is not true since you supported the family while she got the degrees. As far as the city, since she graduated, she may be able to accept a job elsewhere if you both chose that and it will open new opportunities for you as well.

Any job can be the job for you, just as any city can be the city for you if you make the best of your situation.
It sounds like you're going through a mid-life crisis. This means you've reached a plateau in your life, and feel there's no where else to go but down from here. But you couldn't be more wrong!
People reinvent their lives at many ages, opening up new business's at 40 and joining clubs and taking up new hobbies at as late as 90.
Remember, you've got at least 40 or 50 more years of life in you!

AH. The burn-out. You need to do something crazy. Whatever that means to you. Stop on the way home, buy an insane quantity of flowers for your wife. Not one bundle. Buy like a carload. Crank up some heavy metal in your car. Better yet, go buy a new audio-system and then crank it up. Do something crazy. :)

This what I did, I got my Real Estate license. I don't have a degree either and I didn't want to go back to school. I'm happy that I did it. You might look into this.
