You could take a tape of your favourite songs to sing on the journey...
Talk to him about it and say that you know its such a long way and you dont wanna fall asleep on him so can he suggest any thing you two can do....

talk, play car game like i spy, make up a list of question for yahoo answer, make out at ever stop, see how long you can hold it before you have to go pee, and so on and so on.

One of you says a word, for instance: Back
Then the other says a word that goes with it: Yard
