I was just curious as to when WIC stops giving you checks for formula? I think it is 6 months..Also, when can I stop using formula and start giving my baby regular cow's milk? She is 6 months old. My sister said that she started at 6 months, but I've heard a year..but my mom said when all 4 of us kids were babies, that she never even used formula and she fed us all evaporated milk.

You NEVER give a child cow's milk until they are a year old. EVER. Their systems are not able to handle the protein digestion yet.

WIC gives you vouchers until your baby is one year old. Babies should stay on formula until their first birthday but start adding an ounce or two of cows milk around 9 months . add alittle more every couple of weeks to wean the baby ff formula and be using whole cows milk at their first birthday. WIC will usually switch the vouchers to free cows milk at your baby's first birthday. WIC helps with providing infants til age 2 and sometimes toddlers til age 5.

You should NOT give your baby cow's milk until she's 1 year old. That is also when WIC stops giving you vouchers for formula.

You can give babies regular milk at 1. I also think that is when WIC stops giving formula coupons.

Its best to keep baby on formula for 1 full year and then switch to cows milk. I know I was started on regular cows milk when I was 5 months old but now they realize babys need human milk or formula for that full year.

They stop giving formula vouchers at 1 year old because that is when baby can start drinking regular cow's milk. Babies main nutrition should be breastmilk or formula for the first year of their lives.

At 1 year. If you ask at the WIC office they have all the answers. Formula, especially the advanced ones today are necessary for brain development and you want to give your child every advantage. Good Luck!

You don't give them whole milk until their first birthday. WIC should give you coupons for formula until then. Cow's milk is too harsh for a baby's digestive system.

I believe it is when the baby is 1 years old the wic checks stop...I'm sure you can call and double check.
They recommend now waiting until the baby is 1 before weining them off of formual/breatmilk to cow's milk.
The baby should be having her 6month old check up, ask the doctor about the milk then.

wic believes in formula till 12 months then they switch to regular milk coupons. But with doctors permission and note they sometimes give you the milk coupons earlier if its determined to be best for your baby.
