but if you use country specific search typed as " back pack"
is enough

The location-based one won't give you a Chinese restaurant that is in China if you ask for some place to eat in San Diego. It is a lot more sensible that way than the regular one that you have to limit with your search phrase..

As far as I know, Local Search and ordinary search are different in data only. you will search based on your location that is stored in Google databse for each record of location.
