Good about certain things. I remember numbers like crazy. I remember names really well. I forget where I put things a lot. That's why I have to put things in the same place all the time. Otherwise I lose them for indefinite periods of time.
Memory for childhood events or important emotional events is normal for a couple of reasons. Our focus on those events is stronger than the focus on where we put our car keys, or what flavor jam we had on our toast this morning. Plus, we tend to re-hash the really good and the really bad memories numerous times, which just reinforces the memories. The bad side of that is that sometimes we end up remembering the remembering rather than remembering the original event.

If you would consider getting a 100 on a test from what should have been a "new" chapter section from old memories than yes, I'd say I have a good memory.

I have an EXCELLENT memory for childhood events, things about my friends when we were little that even they had forgotten about. I can describe toys and furniture in a home I saw 30 years ago.
But where did I park the car before I went shopping?
(not a good sign, eh?)

NO mine sucks, the only thing its good for is remembering roads, seriously I could be driving down some dark alley in the middle of the night in some far away city, drunk out of my mind, but 6 years later if I drive through that same spot during the day I'll remember.

i can't remember where i put the car keys but i remember every detail of my childhood, teenager times, very old memories...
