This question strikes to the heart of what is wrong with our current political reality: There is but one degree of separation between Democrats and Republicans. Real and lasting changes need to be made for the future well-being of the country but neither party is capable of making the necessary changes because they are both betrothed to special interests.
The great unspoken truth is that corporate interests have a stranglehold on BOTH Democrats and Republicans. Our economy is basically a war economy and with defense contractor's plants spread out throughout the US, there is not a single politician willing to stand up the the military-industrial complex.
So regardless of who is the next President, I think we can look forward to a permanent US military presence in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as ridiculously high military expenditures for the foreseeable future: The REAL tax on oil....

Iltrix
I think the Clintons and the Bushes have been waaaaay too chummy for years. Witness the collaboration between Bush Senior and Bill Clinton on the Aid Funding for Katrina, Africa, etc. Then, there was Hillary's support of Bush the Second's "solution" to illegal immigration. I'm also thinking of Clinton passing NAFTA, which was GHWB's brainchild.
I don't have a problem with non-partisan politics (IF they're good for the country) but I have a huge problem with the idea of only two different families running our government for twenty years. I have a feeling that the two of them are in a back room somewhere together, saying, "One for YOU, and one for ME."
I won't vote for Hillary myself, Iltrix...the only Democrat I would vote for is Dennis "Seabiscuit" Kucinich, the only true old-school liberal of the entire bunch. I don't like Hillary's pat little answers, saying whatever it is that she thinks the public wants to hear. I want a president with a BACKBONE.
Edit: Galen, WELL-SAID, Bro! The only option for saving this country is a viable third-party candidate!

Being polite is not being chummy. Nancy Pelosi, by virtue of her title, has to be nice to the President. Just because people don't agree doesn't mean they can't be cordiel with one another. In America we do that. As for giving Bush what he wants, she knows the obstructionist Republicans are going to buck anything else so why bother? If there is something they don't buck like the recent health care bill to increase insurance for poor and lower middle class kids, Bush would just veto it anyway. Fortunately on the bill for the kids we may see a veto overturn. Elections are drawing near and so many in the GOP don't want to seem too obstructionist so they agree on a few things to make it look good.

I hate George Bush and I'm not crazy about Hillary either. But you can't judge right now. They'll (and I mean any of them Republican or Democrat) will tell you anything to get elected. And then 3/4 of the time, they will do the exact opposite of what they promised. But from the looks of the way things are shaping up, you better get used to Hillary. I'm liberal this election, also. She was not my pick, but I believe she is who we will get.

I still have faith in Hilary. She's not my ideal candidate as far as positions go but America is a complicated country.Bill didn't exactly govern like a liberal but the American people were better of,safer and he treated his allies with respect.
I think Clinton is the best America can do right now.
What absolutely needs to be avoided is nominating the perfect Democratic candidate who gets eaten alive by the GOP war machine and ending up with President Thompson.America can not afford four more years of this failed conservatism. The world can't afford that.
Look Hillary is a politician first and not an idealist like Kucinich or Gravel but that's also why those guy's have no shot at winning.I think Hillary like Bill uses her political talent to push for progress but in a way that doesn't make it easy for the regressive American right to demonize her efforts and destroy her chances.
I believe Hillary is the only one who can beat the GOP war machine. It's not the biggest change but the best America can do right now.
She will bring Universal healthcare. If people see and experience the benefits of that program and then realize all the time they were lied to and made to feel afraid it could have a positive effect in the public rejecting the regressive rights rhetoric for good.I know that's optimistic but I don't think totally unrealistic.

I really wish the democrats were offering another candidate that could beat Hillary. I am tired of Bush Clinton Bush and maybe Clinton in the Oval Office. Too chummy with Bush? Probably. However any democrat right now is better than the cream of the Republican crop.

I'm having second thoughts about Hillary also. I think she'll pretty well follow in Bill's footsteps which isn't a bad thing considering the sorry record of GW Bush but I think this country needs fresh, new leadership. I don't see any indications of this on either side, all I see is the same old stew warmed over.

Not sure it's a matter of getting chummy with Bush, it's really a matter of politics over principle. She is a crafty politician, but not that crafty. I've yet to hear anyone adequately explain just what it is she really stands for or why she voted to to give authorization to Bush for this stupid war. She is all over the map with any given topic, it's really about who she happens to be talking to at the time. In many ways she does not distinguish herself from the Bushco any more than another poltiician more interested in money and image.

I think that she is using Bush as a means of promoting her strengths to the dissatisfied Republicans. If she can show that she agrees with them on some policies, she can maybe swing their vote to her. I think that everything she does is calculated to help her win the nomination and the presidency. To me, it just seems like another ploy to gain votes.
