The Magnolia Napa Valley ( http://www.resideo.com/us/california/napa/61330098.hotel ) can arrange for an in-room, multi-course candlelight dinner...might be what you're looking for, and not too far away!
The Hotel Monaco in San Fran ( http://www.resideo.com/us/california/sanfrancisco/55245757.hotel?t=1 ) has a spa, might be a good place to stay, relax and see the sights.
Hope that helps!

Carmel By The Sea... They have nice and comfy beds there too.. . Nice beach also. There are a lot of tourists there, and many nice stores, and cafes to sit at. Lots of trees, and beautiful homes. A totally different world--if you don't live like that already.. Clint Eastwood is also the Mayor...
Napa is not that romantic!
I live in Sacramento too... :)

I agree with Jeffery. I was born and raised in Lake County which is right by Mendocino County. Its beautiful up there. Fort Bragg is nice and look for a place called Glass Beach. The sand is made out of rounded pieces of colored glass! When we were kids we tried to find the purple pieces of urchin spines. Get the hotel there it would be a really good time.

Have you considered Napa Valley? B&Bs, Auberge de Soleil, Meadowood, Silverado Resort, Villagio? You can definitely be romantic here. Gorgeous area, good food, good wine, and spas. What else could be better? And take a balloon ride.
