Has anyone had a colonoscopoy and had to use miralax and Gatorade for the prep?

if so how bad is it...am I going to be able to sleep tonight or am I going to be in the bathroom all night....help me I am so nervous...and hungray ...I am doing the prep tonnight

I had a colonoscopy 2 years ago.... the WORSE part was the prep---the rest was a breeze.... oh and they fed me a ham and cheese sandwich as soon as I woke up and expressed that I was STARVING!!! However, the prep works rather fast--I would NOT take it just before bed...or you WILL be up most of the night.... I THINK I started taking mine some where around 4 or 5 PM and spent a total of 5 HOURS sitting in the bathroom....also, it is BEST after that time if you hop into a nice warm TUB and soak for a while to help take care of any BURNING sensations you will get... it's not fun and I'm TRYING to explain without being OVERLY GRAPHIC, but be prepared to do a lot of sitting and don't get up too fast because when you THINK you are done, you aren't.... I did spend 5 FULL hours---I seem to remember it took about an hour and a half to start WORKING and once it started--WHAMO!!!!! bring a few magazines in with you or a book and something to put your feet UP on because if you are as old as ME, then your feet and BUTT might have a tendency to FALL ASLEEP while sitting there if you don't elevate them every so often.... You also might get the feeling like you will VOMIT---that's because the stuff you will be drinking is NOT the most pleasant stuff in the world. I took mine with plain water and those flavor "tablets" you get in the kit---BAD IDEA.. at least the gatorade will give it a MUCH better flavor!!! it's a LOT of liquid to slosh down in a short amount of time----if you DO NOT FINISH the entire water, do NOT worry about it.... I left about 20 ounces in the jug that I just couldn't get down me and still had enough in me to DO THE JOB.... good luck---oh and IF you take the kit early enough, you SHOULD be able to sleep MOST of the night---I think I got up TWICE and that was it.

I had one -- I did not use those, but Colace (similar). It might well be a long night, sorry, though I hear that Miralax is nicer on the system than Colace. You might want to fix up a pallet near the bathroom door and nap there when you can -- that is what I ended up doing. The procedure itself was NOT bad, very interesting and so drugged up you don't care. Good luck!

Dont take it at night or you wont sleep,it takes about an 1-2 hours to work and continues. It can be painful if you have something wrong in the system but usualy ok

I think that it'll be harder for them in the real world than for the kids who go to public school. They'll have a lot more issues, because I don't think they get as much preparation for dealing with actual life situations. Most of them simply get things handed to them and they think that'show it'll always be.

I have not had one but I was with my mother in law when she went through hers and no you most likely wont sleep well, you will be in the bathroom most of the night and tomorrow you will be so miserable and hungry it will be unreal...just eat the jello and try not to think about it!

Plan to be up all night....every time you fall into a deep sleep....your belly rumbles...and your butt makes threats of watering your bed!.....Yeah the prep is the most harassing part...but once the colonoscopy is over...you'll be fine!

Think of it as cleaning out your system. You have years and years of stuff in there that needs to be cleaned out.

When it is through, you will feel 100% better because the toxins are out of your system.

yOU ARE ALLOWED TO HAVE JELLO, BROTH,HARD CANDY CARBONATED AND NOCARBONATED DRINKS. JUST STAY AWAY FROM RED. YOU SHOULD HAVE ALREADY STARTED YOUR PREP. WHY SO LATE? THE MAIN THING TO REMEMBER IS YOUR BOWEL NEEDS TO BE CLEAR, TAKE THE LAXATIVE AND DRINK FLUIDS CONSTANTLY YOU WILL BE FINE.
