If when you completed your application and you inadvertently left pertinent information off the application (whether mistakenly and or by deception) you're subject to termination. No union that I know of in its by laws, will grant any subject protection from job loss if that loss was by deception. Look at your company's policies and the State of California's appeals process for job termination.

If a background check is involved, the employment offer will generally be made contingent on a satisfactory background check -- meaning, you start work, but if the background check comes back and they don't like it, you're outta there.

Do you have an employment contract or are you part of a union? If not, they can get rid of you at any time for any reason (except for the handful protected by law like race, sex, etc).
