cat convert? eggs? no your running rich smells like gas? if so it could be a bad sensor 02, or other, or timing could be off. Have your sensors look at look over your engine bay area and look at the wiring see if theres any loose connections. Whats happening is when your motor is dumping more fuel into the motor the extra hits the hot exhaust and cause the pop pop sounds

sounds like a timing issue. your distributor shaft may be worn ($150) causing the timing to be off & not burning all the fuel in the cylinders. may also be the timing chain/belt & gears ($250-$500). get a basic tune up & oil change ($50) to start. if that doesnt help spend the $30 & have a shop do a diagnostic to it but dont agree to any service. take the diagnostic to at least 3 shops & ask what they suggest.

Get your exhaust looked at. The cutting out and popping back and fourth sounds like a plugged catalytic convertor.

Take it to Honda to get fixed, they are the best. So it costs a little more but if you want Honda Quality you must pay Honda prices!

Smelling funny? Does it smell like rotten eggs?

If so, sounds like it's possibly the catalytic converter going. Symptoms match up with how it's running.
