I'm on disability and for around 3 years in the 80's, The Reagan administration decided that most of us could get a job. I was living on $80 a month food stamps. The fun was having friends come over to play cards. Spades, Euker, any thing you would want to play. All I had to do was come up with some food which I had.

1) Put my LPs, 45s and cassettes in order, listening to a lot of great music I'd forgotten along the way
2) Read a lot of books
3) Put my comics in order, selecting those I wanted to sell/trade
4) Watched a lot of television, especially movies. I also tried to put my videotapes in order, finding a lot of things I wanted to tape over
5) Played my bowed psaltery~practicing old songs and learning new ones
6) Sketched a lot, mainly portraits
7) Researched my book of filmographies
8) Played with the cats or simply watched them racing around and playfighting each other
9) Sewed crazy quilt-style skirts to wear to reenactment events and mended my Renaissance faire garb (costumes); also, put my jewelry, weaponry, pouches, etc., in some sort of order
10) Made a list of what I would do when I had money
I could list more! I had a long, long, long time when I had no money.
P.S. I didn't have a laptop or the Internet back then.

Back in the university & it was not just me, it was me and all my friends as we all expected our cheques from our parents.
They all came for my house, ate what was left in the fridge and cupboards, smoked the most unbelievable brand of cigarettes as they were the cheapest (and that's where we spent the only money we had), drunk all the wine (thank God we had plenty), watched TV, played Board Games and had so much fun that we thought that we should do it every now and then on purpose!!!

If you're borke, how can you afford the computer? Go to the mall and people watch. That's fun when you're borke.

I think everyone has had a day when they were completely broke. Thank god for yahoo answers! Its free! Also playing cards with friends or family. Curling up on the couch and watching some of your old dvd's or tapes. Watch old home movies- they can be extremely funny and embarrasing!!!

Sure I have...
Watch tv, cook whatever is around the house, hang out with friends and rent a dvd, go to free events if you live in a big city, walk in the park, call someone.

I always find things to do when I don't have much money to spare. We have a free zoo, or I take my kids to the Lake, or on a hike. We also go to nursing homes and visit with people who don't have families. Check your local community... what does it have to offer. Just enjoy life.
