I have a doctors appointment coming up in the next month and my doctor will end up asking me if I am sexually active. I would like to tell the doctor that I have had sex before & tell him not to let my parents know but since I had had sex under 18 could my doctor end up telling my parents?

I was 15 (I'm turing 16 in late December) & my boyfriend was 17 (now 18).
The age of concent in PA is 16. So, would my doctor think this is statutory and have to end up telling my parents thanks to the law?

My father has no idea I have been dating my boyfriend for the past 2 years but my mother knows that we have been dating.

If my parents found out (mainly my dad) they could end up getting my bf a record right?

I would like to talk to my doctor about BC & stuff like that but I dont know if I can trust him not to let my parents in on what we are talking about.

Your doctor can't violate patient confidentiality nor can he violate HIPAA with paying the consequences. I'm pleased to hear that you want to confide in your doctor. And you can without worry.

1. I do not believe sex between minors a good thing.

2. I wouldn't confide in your doctor until you are 16. Even then he may not be able to give you birth control information depending on the laws in PA.

3. Until then Always Use A Condom until you can legally get a more reliable form of birth control

4. You might find more responsive information and help through Planned Parenthood.

You dont have to talk to your doctor about the age of your boyfriend. Let your dr. know your sexually active- its for your benefit. Your doctor cannot tell your parents
