I'd have to say the independents. What's the deal??????Why do they have to upset my limited understanding of politics by insisting there is more than liberals or conservatives?
I don't know if they are on my or the other team and I can't get out the usual talking points that usually work so well on the other team.
Bottom line these independents are the most infuriating with their independent thinking and "objective fact finding".Hope not more people get those idea's.Imagine if all the people started thinking for themselves independent of an established party!
Then where would we be?May God have mercy on us all

Depends on which way the wind is blowing on whether Republicans or the Democrats are the biggest liars or persons not telling the whole truth. One thing for sure, it's all about money. If we cut the funds including salary and benefits (retirement), I bet most of them would be digging ditches and installing Dish Network.
On the aside, I think you should preface the Independents as: Pre-Perot Independent (reform party was also coined at the same time). When I first registered Independent, Ross Perot was still selling copy machines.

Definitely the Republicans. While there are Democrats out there who use unfair criticisms and analogies, it is a practice that the right seems to be unable not to use. Joe McCarthy was a Republican, after all. It would seem that Dwight Eisenhower was the exception, rather than the rule, in preferring the high road.
What has annoyed me as a social moderate and fiscal conservative is that the Republicans accuse me of being a "Liberal" for simply disagreeing with them, and assume I am therefore mentally defective. The so called Liberals consider me right wing. Where can this bird land?
For now, I suppose I will vote for the Democrat, since the Republicans seem unconcerned about either how our deficit is ballooning or how our social service network is so inferior to other developed democracies. I confess that a major factor in this choice is the nasty and unprincipled way the Republicans have demonized their opponents for simply disagreeing with them.
I will vote for Hilary Clinton not for any of her policies, but because I can think of no other way to convince partisan kneebiters that I am not listening to their whining. All I have heard are complaints about her singing voice, and now her laugh. Let one of these political geniuses explain why we are the only western nation without a public health care system! I already know she has a terrible voice, and have a frankly raucous laugh myself. Can we talk about issues?
So I would say I find the diehard Republicans infuriating enough to make me vote Democrat.

Thats a tough question! Because I agree with taking measures to protect the environment and some conservatives think that this is exaggerated. But there are alot of things on the conservative side that I agree with as well. Really I don't side with either one! But I'd say personally, I am a moderate conservative. I think politics can get very childish sometimes. I do not agree with disrespecting someone for the simple fact that they are a "liberal" or "democrat". I believe in respect for the individual.

I used to be an Independant, but ever since the Conservative's started their witch hunt on Bill Clinton, I have found myself leaning more toward the Liberal side.
I strongly feel that the right wing conservative movement are a bunch of "holyer than thou" hipocrites, who think they are the only ones who work, have values and morals, and that it is their duty to make sure everyone else agrees with them. Why else would they try and overturn a 30 year old law? (Roe-V-Wade) They totaly hounded Bill Clinton about everything and anything they could dig up, and when they couldn't find anything legitimate enough, they set up a sex scandal. This went on the entire 8 years he was in office. That whole sex scandal situation should have been kept private, because it was between him, his wife, and Monica. Linda Tripp had an adgenda, and she used Monica to fulfill it. I'm pretty sure Ken Starr had a hand in it to. All you have to do to see this is open your eyes, and open your minds. Any MAN in the same situation, including Bush, would have lied. Geeezzzz.
I do think the Republicans spew more trash, because they are so afraid that Hillary is going to win in 2008. I even saw a quote from a woman in Fl. "We should all register as Democrats for the Primary's so that we can make SURE Hillary doesn't win" I think a lot of them have figured out that the Bush's are snakes, and have done a lot of damage to the reputation of the GOP. Now they just gotta figure out how to clean up their own mess.

Sorry, you won't get a unbiased answer. Most Independents still hold either conservative or liberal viewpoints. In many conservatives cases, because the party isn't conservative enough( my case). This also holds for the Liberals, they leave their party because it's not liberal enough. So the Independents are actually more polarized than those in the major parties. Although at times, due to the dislike of the Administration and Gov't in general, Cons and Libs will agree on some stuff. Look at my contacts, you'll find that it's pretty even.

What I find most interesting in the answers here is the fact that there are several very left-wing individuals claiming to be independent and spewing invective against right-wingers and not a single instance going the other way. That really should answer your question.
I myself can't answer your question directly because, although I don't support either party, am certainly Conservatively biased and anti-leftist.

There are some on either side who insult rather than reason. I don't try to keep track of how many one each side do that more.
There are people on all sides, on the other hand, who offer well thought out and well researched opinions. They make it worth the time wasted reading the harangues of those who would rather curse the darkness (within themselves) than light a candle.

Honestly, I'm blown away by the support that this administration continues to have on this forum. Both sides spew garbage but it's been my experience the Republicans tend to be more close-minded.

I find the most baseless and ignorant claims coming from the Conservatives.
Then again, the liberals don't do themselves any favors by using the same tactics.
Very tough call.
The conservatives seem to share the same comments over and over again, nothing new, the same old tired baseless arguments like "liberals love taxes" or "there hasn't been a terrorist attack since 9/11" or "liberals hate America" or the "liberal media" or "liberals are too lazy to work".
I find it hard to believe sometimes that people are that stupid.
The liberals take any negative news about the President or how the war is going to beat down the conservatives. They have no interest in coming up with solutions, they just want to bash conservatives because the conservatives constantly bash them.
The liberals want to be all high and mighty and better than the conservatives, but in reality, they aren't and they use the same tactics.
