Hi my cousin's ex has stopped paying child support and skipped town. She can no longer afford her cell plan with T-Mobile. Is there anyone she can talk to, in order to get out of the plan?

even if she can't get out of the etf, if she tells them she wants to cancel they may offer her a really good deal, which might be something she can afford.

they don't charge the etf because they are assholes, its the contract you agreed to, and it goes both ways. you get the set plan price in exchange for agreeing to stay.

Cell phone companies are under no obligations to do anything... but there is nothing lost by asking. I suggest your friend to call the cell phone company's regular support center and ask. If the phone-rep cannot help her, ask them to transfer the call to a supervisor. If that doesn't work, ask for the manager.

Please be aware, the regular phone rep has no authority to do anything but what the rules say.... but supervisors and managers can make exceptions on the spot.

Be sure to be nice and don't scream and yell. There's a lot more to gain by being nice, and she is no position to demand anything.

Good luck.

She'll be stuck with the ETF, regardless. Cell phone companies have no mercy. one alternative is to have someone take over her contract.
