it was quite disheartening to see the indians losing by 84 runs. 84 RUNS! i seriously feel that out team shld continue to follow the twenty20 format. I mean they shld try to get a good score by twenty overs... so that they r not pressurized later on

It was disheartening. Moreover, I noticed that there was lack of responsibility from senior players. Like it or not, Sachin and Rahul, both thrown away their wickets. In the 50 overs versions if all your batsmen are back into the pavilion before 20-25 overs, how can you imagine to chase a score of more than 300 and that too against Australia.
Dhoni was left helpless, deserted by the star batsmen of Indian team before or around 20 overs...
In short, this team will have to play the 50 overs versions with the 50 overs mindset. Australia can't be beaten only by loud speaking, and childish arrogance (shreesanth). It involves serious cricket.

P.S. The position where Yuvaraj was wasted, would've been better for Rahul Dravid. Yuvaraj's role comes into such games around 35 overs.

50 overs game cannot be plahyedc just like 20 overs game. In 50 overs game, the team should ensure that not more than 3 or 4 wickets are lost before 30 overs, as acceleration of score is normally done in 50 overs gtame after abnout 35 overs. do not have sufficient wickets in hand, they will not be able to take advantage of the slog overs. In India's case the main reason for their loss was that they lost too many wickets before 30 overs.

Overconfidence is the least possible reason. We can say lack of confidence. The Indians generally are not good chasers. After allowing the Aussies to run up a big score with some loose bowling in the middle,it was always going to be difficult.

They lost early wickets because they tried to play the 50 over match like the 20 over match, 20 20 is different from the 50 over match, 20 20 is like a magic anything could happen but 50 over game is a game for talented players to prove their talents and win the game. Thats Real Circket.

I dont think that it is over confidence. I saw the match, and the players were trying their every bit, and i dont see any complacency in that. Its just that Aus played very well than India. We must admit it, and give credit to Aus to the way they played. Ind were outplayed.
Dont lose your hopes yet. Still 5 more matches to go !!!!

heh even i felt the same thing..they wud hv thought that the match wud wash off....they gave away lots of runs.....they cud hv restricted them 4 atleast 250-280 runs...i feel dhoni is able 2 manage only a 20 over match...an ODI needs experience..i dont think he is capable of handling such pressure situations...anyway this is really disappointing...good luck to DHONI and his men!!!!!!all the best 4 the coming matches!!!!!!
