Republicans have engaged in?

I don't know about you, but I prefer tax and spend Democrats over borrow and spend Republicans.

I think it is each generation's responsiblity to pay for what it spends.

Nope, im paying for 40 years of Democratic controled congress deficit spending right now.

No democratic controlled congress has EVER passed a balanced budget, not once

Since WW ll, only republican controlled Congress's have passed a balanced budget.

We wish they would start doing it again.

We are in a sorry state of affairs so far as our country's spending dilemmas. We got into trouble when we spent on funding World War II (for which we had no choice). We continued down the road to financial woes by financing other dead end wars (like we are in now). The Korean War was a necessary step, but Vietnam and the Iraq mess could have been dealt with differently (but then that is hind sight). What matters here is that this is still a free country. Blaming the Republicans or the Democrats is ludicrous - there have been big spending errors on both sides (I feel the Democrats have done more to the negative side - especially in rape of our Social Security funds). Is it fair for the younger generations to pay for deficit spending - the answer is no, but then it wasn't fair that outside influences on our economy such as the World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, 911, Katrina, or any of the other world ailments that you can list, have had such a detrimental effect on our economy. Decisions to preserve freedom had to made by people in office - and it cost money to do that business. Today is what we have; we can learn from our mistakes, but the effects of those mistakes linger. Could the decision makers have made better choices? Perhaps, but what right have we to judge given that we could have made the same mistake. What we all have to do is pull together and deal with the problems facing us - it will cost us more to live everyday life no doubt, but we must live free and try to improve on our decision making and quit allowing these shoe polishing, silver tongued politicians guide us in the wrong direction just because it promotes their party or their agendas. I definitely do not know all the answers, but I do know the deficit spending syndrome has to stop as soon as possible. As a private citizen, I am not able to spend that which I cannot repay, so the Federal Government ought to be held to the same constraints.

I don't think it's fair. I am saving to give my children enough money to cover their share, which is about $30,000 each right now. I would be willing to pay more taxes to keep the debt from growing which would help everyone's children, but as long as we have an irresponsible government, I can only take care of my own.

Note on the facts:
At no time since 1945 when Republicans have been in total charge of both elected branches of government have they reduced spending. They talk about it a lot, but they never deliver.

For the first eighteen years after WW II, Truman (1945-53), Eisenhower (1953-61) and Kennedy (1961-63) all worked vigorously to keep spending under control. Of the seven years Truman was in office, the national debt came down in four. In 1946 & 7, with a Republican Congress for his first two years in office he brought down spending. The following year, with a Democratic Congress he reduced what was commonly called the “War Debt” again. Two of the eight years Eisenhower served as President saw debt reduction during the years when Democrats were in charge of Congress, 1956 & 7. Kennedy reduced the debt by over 4% his first year in office, 1961, then it went up slightly his next two years. JFK was dealing with a Democratically controlled House and Senate when he managed to reduce the debt.

It is interesting to note who controlled Congress versus what party was in the presidency during the seven years that the debt was reduced throughout the terms of Truman, Eisenhower and Kennedy. Three times the Democratic Party controlled both Houses of Congress and the Presidency (1948, 1951 & 1961). The other four years all had a mix of control, with Republicans in the White House (1956 & 1957), in charge of Congress (1946 & 1947), but never both.

no, neither are good, in fact according to the irs code book paying taxes is voluntary (just ask those who don't pay how voluntary they are) and that only federal employees and terrotories under fed jursidiction were to pay fed income tax to pay off fed debts. that is washington dc, guam, puerto rico, and certain islands, can't remember their names.

if they ever challenged these taxes in a court of law in public view you can see the uprising that would cause and the money would dry up, as it should.

that is why you never hear about people who don't pay taxes and the reason why they don't. it would open a can of worms for the ruling elite who have been defrauding americans and others for many decades now. right now there are people not paying who are in a stand off with government officials, who have warrant to arrest them but do not they do not want it to come to public attention or hit the courts. they could just rush the properties and arrest them, they are there watching them day and night, but have you heard it on the news? no. you have to watch it on youtube about these people. adn sometimes that is censored, and has to be reloaded by whoever owneds the sites. The family I have in mind right now is the browns of new hampshire.

so it is not fair to get into a debt we are not privvy to and expect us to pay for it. that is fraud,

THE LIBERALS IN EITHER PARTY WILL WASTE FAR TO MUCH . OF COURSE 90 % OF THE LIBERALS ARE DEMS. It's the most atrocious crime perpetuated by this administration and those citizens who allowed Bush to get away with it. He should be Impeached by Republicans for betraying them and for putting America's posterity in such indebtedness. Is this supposed to be conservative fiscal policy? I hope not.
