EXCERPT FROM ARTICLE:
Sen. Barack Obama said Friday the fact he is viewed as a legitimate presidential candidate is testament to the progress America has made on race relations.

Denying that progress would "dishonor the memories of all those who fought for our civil rights throughout the generations," said Obama, the only African-American candidate running for the presidential nomination.

Just because progress has been made doesn't mean there isn't more to fight for still. Sure, black people are lynched in the South for looking a white man in the eyes or looking at a white woman.

Yeah I'd call that progress for sure. Its almost laughbale that we even have to use that as ameasuring stick if we calim to be the civilized nation that we are.
But it doesn't mean that institutional racism or even personal prejudice have been overcome by any means.

Apparently Obama isn't black enough to have a race card played in his favor by these two shysters.

I don't care if he is black enough or not, I still say he isn't qualified to be a leader of a country. Especially hearing how he wants to attack Pakistan over Iran and wants to talk to Syria, North Korea and Chavez all at the same time. He is just like Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray. Without Oprah, no one in this large of a spectrum would ever know who Obama is.

Maybe somebody should send the memo to the white kids who hung nooses on "their" tree in Jena, LA, or to the two white guys driving around near Jena with nooses hanging from their truck. While you are at it, I am sure that all of the Black people in prison on crack cocaine charges (which comes with a much higher sentence than powder cocaine, the drug of choice for wealthy white people) would LOVE to know how much progress has been made.

Progress is different from equality. You should have read the entire statement made by Obama. He says progress is made, but there is still work to do. Sharpton and Jackson are pretty ridiculous most of the time, but that does not negate that fact that racism and racial inequality still runs rampant everywhere in this country still, especially in the deep south.

they have to try to paint people as racists otherwise the militants and wouldn't listen to them.

They also need that so they can use it for their political gain as well, so they need to believe that it's the 1960's all over again, but for their gain, not for the African Americans.

I don't think thinkgs are perfect and I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder, but I think people that play the race card when it isn't a factor definitely are hurting those who legitimatly are being racially discriminated against.

Obama said he was the first presidential candidate to question the severity of the charges in the Jena 6 case, which involves six black teenagers who are accused of beating a white teenager after a series of racially charged incidents at a high school in Jena, Louisiana.

REPUBS APPEAR TO BE SAYING THAT RACISM IS NO LONGER A PROBLEM IN AMERICA.

Yes, it's time for AL & Jesse to move along and let healing and progress continue to take it's course.
