Of course not - DON'T report your Mom to the police and DO take the initiative to have the post office deliver your mail to the new address. Now, that said, why not have some fun with dear ole' Mom?

Why not send yourself some mail, that you know she'll open, with information that will really get her goose - I don't know, have an imaginary boyfriend who makes reference to the impending pregnancy - or an imaginary pimp sending you a sales slip from the escort service - how 'bout a letter from the past job threatening legal action against you due to embezzlement - something completely outrageous! This, of course, will send her over the top and she'll be on the phone immediately with you out of her concern...

Then ask her to lunch so that you can explain face to face and use this opportunity to: 1. Comfort her and let her know that all is well and: 2. Let her know you love her but still deserve your privacy even from family.

Good luck and have some fun with this - but don't get too bent out of shape. If parents didn't care they wouldn't meddle so much.

Have you gone to the post office and filled out a change of address form? If not that should be where you start instead of going to the police! If you have and are still receiving mail at your mothers house you need to change your address with that person or business that keeps sending your mail there. If you do these things you shouldn't have the problem of your mom even getting your mail, and thus eliminating the need to do something that will forever damage your relationship with your mother!

That's a little extreme, don't you think. Ask her to not open your mail. Fill out a change of address card at the post office, and inform all the people you expect mail from of your new address change, and have them correct their files with your new address.

You are 18 now, it is your duty to put in a change of address with the post office so your mail is forwarded to you- now while it is illegal for your mom to open your mail you cannot call the police. Change your address...sooner the better, you can do it only for $1.00 fee. I will even give you the link!

Then have your mail delivered to your new place.

You want to arrest your mom, the woman who raised you, gave birth to you and gave you a place to live for opening a letter? Don't you think you're being an ungrateful, spoiled, immature, brat?

Tell her to stop opening your mail and respect your privacy. I doubt the police will do anything. Oh, and let's get our mail forward, shall we.

first talk to her about the situation, it is illegal to be reading other peoples mail. If the problem persists, contact the police and they will take it from there. Good luck!
