Controlling our own lives some ask: I believe it is every Americans right to have choices in the decisions they make regrding whether they:
1. Get an education
2. Work, at a job or a career.
3. Choose their own health care
4.Decide how and where to spend their own money
5. My beliefs may vary from other conservatives, but I do believe in helping the disabled, mentally and physically, the elderly, and dis advantaged children.
6. Cut taxes and have less government control. Mostly free enterprise, Capitalism, if you will.

We are BOTH on the same page.
Don't apologize for wanting to help those truly in need. THAT is a VERY Conservative thing to do. It is WELL documented that Conservatives are far more generous when it comes to giving than those on the Left.
Where people go wrong on the topic of being charitable is using the IRS as a collection agency .
The power of the IRS shifts the help given from the catagory of charitable contributions and replaces it with EXTORTION!
Since money is power, it takes power from you and shifts it toward the establishment of an ever more powerful and potentially tyranical central government.
THAT is in direct opposition to what our Founding Fathers intended when they gave us a Constitution that establishes a week central government and placed the POWER of government in the hands of the citizen.
I'm on YOUR side.

You mean:
More taxes to pay for Bush's war or to stop the borrow and spend?
I will go along with individual freedom. When are we going to have that? The so called "patriot" act certainly doesn't allow it.
Caring about other people is not Socialist. An attitude of I got mine get your own is not desireable either. Big government comes in the form of the largest beurocricy in history called the Department of Homeland Security created by a Republican George W. Bush.
Absolutely controll our own lives, I agree. I control mine as most people do.
Terrorism is not a thing but a method. There can't be a war on a method but an ideology or a country.
Securing our borders, both North and South is certainly a good thing.
I couldn't agree more about maitaining the life, liberty, and persuit of happiness. Most Americans do.
I also agree we should maintain the Constitution including the Bill of Rights. It isn't a goddamn piece of paper and it should not be amended on the whim of some political faction intent on cramming their agenda down the throats of Americans.

Whether Conservative or Liberal we are Americans and we Love our country. We all want what is best but simply see a different path for accomplishing that.

I would love a Conservative President... and I fear what a Hillary or Obama would do to the country. Count me in! :)

I'm even with you on helping out the disadvantaged and less fortunate (although individually, and not through the government). I would rather give money through organizations that I trust, than trust the government to give it out appropriately.

Does individual freedom mean a woman can do whatever with her body? a person can marry whoever they want to marry and people can worship or not worship whoever they please?

Does controlling our own lives means that no constitutional amendments stop people from doing just that?

No, not because I don't want all that but I am not conservative or a liberal. I rather have an open mind then closed one.

Earnest T, PNAC Penelope, Shortbus, Usama are all examples of this.

I would except
Tax breaks to those that don't need them
Total contempt for hungry children and the elderly
I am not rich, so I can't benefit from their legislation
Allowing big oil to gouge us
" If you can't afford health care, then just die " attitude while claiming to be God's party.
I don't complain about where MY tax dollars go.
