My friend and I are having this debate. If a man is 22 and a woman is 29, is this too much of a age gap for a marriage in India?

Chennaideva... I wish you would not answer, with all of your questions about prostitution and massage parlours, which utterly disrespects women... How is that a "caring" culture???

Why are you debating the age ? is this an arranged marriage ? If you are truly in love then age does not matter. There is no universal formula for fixing the correct age difference in marriage, so follow your heart.

Before getting married in India, I would think twice. Never mind the age. Most of marriage in this country are arranged between parents at almost from birth. Man is 22 and the woman is 29. I don't think the age gap is the issue here. It it probably the difference in "cast" between the two that would be taking into consideration. Over there, if the man is 45 and the woman or girl is 15 or 18, the difference in age is still not the issue. Asian society is very different than North-American one.

I hate to disappoint but osrry I have no knowledge of the customs may it be cultural or ethnical in nature of india.Honestly I find the country very diverse and mysterious also spiritually rich.Regarding marriage,it depends upon the woman, if she is psychologically mature then there shouldnt be a problem unless a law or tradition impedes the marriage from occuring. What's important is that there is love and affection evident in relationship and that it should be nurtured for the relationship to last.

Well such a huge age gap could imbalance the relationship, as the lady would feel that she handling a child or something, and moreover the guy would feel that he is handling his mom or aunt. Agreed that in certain cases this relationship works out but its rather and such a huge gap in either ways are not acceptable by parents, for few days or years it would be sweet enough but later its turns to be as someone guiding someone in big time.

No honey, it really depends on each individuals though. When it's concerning matters from the heart, it really doesn't matter the age gaps as long as both parties are in love though.

Cheers and have a nice week ahead :)

Yes with respect to Indian society.

Here the society/people 'care' others more than themself :). It is very hard to ignore the society factor in India.
