I think I have felt disturbed at times, but I don't remember ever having felt amused to see a mentally challenged person...
If a child happens to laugh or make fun of a mentally or physically disabled person, I think s/he should definitely be told off in front of that person or of any people...
As a matter of fact, I think this is the only situation that comes to mind in which it is justifiable to punish children in public... Since this will bring them shame, and they will be unlikely to repeat the deed... (Furthermore, just think of how it might feel to be different, and to be despised...)

absolutely not. I worked for a company that housed the mentally challenged, and some of them were the sweetest people around!

how can you even think of asking such a question.i am teaching two mentally challenged children. i have never even thought of considering them as abnormal kids. they r very adorable & innocent just like any children of that age.
