Hi,
If you want to see the tallest peaks in the San Francisco area you have a couple of choice's. One is the Fairmont Hotel. Ride the glass elevator to the top and gaze out of any window. The view will be fantastic. Next take a ride to the top of twin peaks. Look North to Mt Tam in Marin County and East to Mt Diablo in the East Bay. Make sure the Fog is not around.

In the greater nine county Bay Area, Mt St Helena on the Napa-Sonoma-Lake County border at 4343 ft is the tallest.
After that, there are a few little known peaks around 4100-4200 ft around Mt Hamilton in the Diablo Range east of San Jose.
You can't see Mt St Helena from SF, I don't think you can see Mt Hamilton either from SF.
From SF you can see Mt Diablo at 3849 ft to the east.

Then Mt Diablo, from 24 to north gate,
You can see both at twin peak in a clear day.

Same reason there is so much fog. The cool bay keeps the climate well regulated so you don't often get the hot, high pressure systems that mix with the cool low pressure to create it.
