I believe it's very possible that this woman was a victim of Homeland Security's 'machismo', incompetence and lack of regard for human beings.
For those who are appalled that I would accuse our own government of something so dastardly and sinister, think about these events:
a) Speculation abounds that FDR knew Pearl Harbor was going to be attacked and did nothing to prevent it, knowing that the deaths of American soldiers would help bring the U.S.A. into World War II;
b) Our government lied about U.S. battleships being attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin, which led us directly into the Vietnam War;
c) The military lied about the effects of Agent Orange on Vietnam veterans, which resulted in numerous deaths;
d) How many people died from Ronald Reagan's Iran-Contra scandalous affair?
e) There have been several incidents of CIA operatives arranging the deaths of civilians, military dictators, and others they considered expendable;
f) When questioned about civilian deaths in the early days of the Iraq 'war'. Donald Rumsfeld smugly replied, 'Stuff happens";
g) 'Detainees' at Gitmo were tortured, sexually abused and killed without regard to the rules of the Geneva Convention;
h) 675,000 Iraqi citizens and 3,800 U.S. soldiers have died just so a handful of wealthy elitists, industrialists, and power brokers can become wealthier and more powerful.
I can easily imagine that this woman was 'out of control' and the poorly trained, macho men employed by the Department of Homeland Security roughed her up a little too much, which resulted in her death. Then, of course, a cover story had to be fabricated; autopsies will have to be faked, and those involved will have to be silenced. If you think your U.S. government isn't capable of such evil, think again: it doesn't just happen in the movies. -RKO- 10/02/07

An autopsy is going on today. It many not be a hanging. Her family is high power from New York. They have retained a prominent Arizona Lawyer Mike Manning, I believe. She was on her own and was headed to a Tuscon rehab facility. A family member was to meet her at the Phoenix airport. She also may have tried suicide before she left New York. Next to impossible say experts I saw this morning to hang yourself like this. But she was erratic. Then she should have been taken to a hospital for help. Also an officer should have monitored her while in the holding cell. There are medical and drug induced complications due to extreme stress that can cause heart failure. Like the tazer folks that die. No telling. But strangulation is the least likely. Could she have been abused. Yes, witnesses state she threw her cell phone while screaming I am not a terrorist. She yelled you are hurting me as the guards took her from the gate. She may have also tried to strike an airline agent. SO why more police or another authority was not called I don't know. Seems wrong all the way around. Sad because she had children who are now without a Mom. Airport Security Guards need to be monitored more closely in my opinion. They have become much more militant since 9/11 and over step their bounds often. Given just a bit of power and they too go bizerk. Note: You can never let someone in that condition on an airplane. It's a tube and confined you can do little should problems escalate. (fmr Continental Flight Attendant/HNL)

The police arrested her then took her to the station.Then she was cuffed to a shackle like piece to keep her still.They say strangled,I would think she smothered herself.Sad that people get into trouble.Once they booked her on the next flight,she should have calmed down.Safety is what we have to have at an airport.Come early,check in,and get clearance.Everyone else does it.I feel sorry for her family..

It sounds wrong to me too. I think it's VERY possible that she was killed by the police (or security, or TSA, or whoever arrested her, they aren't very specific as to who's jurisdiction she was under at the time) and this is the cover story. It's just not realistic to think an adult would hang herself on a pair of handcuffs accidentally.

I don't get it either. Very Very odd. She was in shakles also so possibly, some how (not sure how), she got her neck wrapped up in the chain around her feet. She was on her way to get treatment for alcholoc addiction so maybe she was drunk and it somehow how caused her death. I dunno, it's so very weird!
