Now, i say this not because i agree with the actions, but because i see the benefits of legalization.
Abortion- before abortion was legal, back alley abortions were performed with coat hangers and broom sticks. They were unsanitary, and not only would the baby die, but the mother could too. By having abortion legal, it provides a safe environment for women to have the procedure done that is sanitary and regulated. Making it illegal does not eliminate its existance, only eliminates the ability for it to be regulated, thus safe.
Prostitution- By having legalized prostitution you would be able to test the women for diseases on a regular basis, and also ensure that their pimp or client is not beating them up because they would be in a safe environment. It would also add tax revenue to our government. Prostitution exists already, we wont get rid of it, by it being legal we can regulate it and make it reasonably safe for both prostitute and client.

Marijuina- It exists, and we cant get rid of it. By having it legalized we can regulate its potency, and earn tax revenue, and restrictions on its use.
These 3 things exist, will always exist. 2 of them throw money away needlessly, when we could use it for revenue. All 3 could be regulated thus making them safer to those who do participate in them. You dont have to agree with it to see the truth behind its legalization for saftey and revenue purposes, i myself dissagree with all 3, but there are more benefits than harm in their legalization. Why cant people personal biases get left out, and we do whats best for the overall good of everyone, not just you.

prostitution and minor drug crimes are the reason most of our jails are full. They are a burden on our society, not a benefit. Legalization eliminates them from our prison and criminal system, and lets that time, space, resources be used on much more productive things, such as murder, arsony, theft etc.

i am afraid you are giving people too much credit. most people do not think with their head, they think with their emotions. if they did use reason, there isn't any way to avoid agreeing with you. they only need to have read a little on the consequences of prohibition in the 20's for proof that not allowing legalization = bad.
here's the problem: abortion; moral issue...the detractors can't get past the idea that its murder, so they can't possibly "condone" murder. Prostitution; also a "moral" issue. most people that are against it actually WANT the disease, crime, drug use, and violence associated with it. why you might ask? because, just like the proponents of prohibition, they enjoy seeing others suffer for doing what they think is "wrong". its their way of rationalizing it as "gods punishment".

I partially agree with you. I'm not totally "digging" your prostitution idea, even though it is the same concept as the abortion argument, because maybe it's just something that's kind of...ingrained in my brain. Like, prostitution = bad, but I think that you're right. I think the country would be better off legalizing some things. I mean, if marijuana was legalized, not only could the government regulate it, but they could also sell it. I'm sure they would create a total monopoly, but still. Cigarettes are just as bad...if not worse. Also, abortion physically harms the woman. Having an abortion could cause health problems later on, and if abortion is legal, they can regulate it and have maybe...safer procedures?
Maybe.
that was a long answer. and i kinda rambled a bit. i think.
haha.

i agree with you somewhat...
drugs and hookers are still controled, and still gain profit.
but in a diffrent way, by having these be illegal there is a job for the police, judge, among many other workers who help to "control" this situation.
by making it legal they would need to market it to make the public view it as OK, look how many people are aginst drugs, yet there all around us and many people use them resulting in many arrests, fines, and so on. if this was legal and people stoped wanting these items (drugs) where is the money?
also knowing your huaband or wife can go out pay someone for sex and come home doing in the laws eyes "nothing wrong"... well you see where this is going.
plain and simple there is more money to be made with these things illegal then if it was legal.

.That is, UNLESS a politician is involved.
I.E. A trial by jury, be it civil, misdemeanor, felony, or federal.
If someone offers a jury member something / anything of value to obtain a desired judgment,THAT IS BRIBERY !!!!! PLAIN AND SIMPLE, YES??? NNOOO !!! If one of our great politicians were to take a POLITICAL CONTRIBUTION FROM A LOBBYIST, TO VOTE A CERTAIN WAY ON A BILL / PROPOSED LAW, THEN THAT IS NOT ILLEGAL / NOT BRIBERY !!!! WHY??? BECAUSE ALL - ALL - ALL- ALL POLITICIANS TAKE THESE BRIBES ------OPPPS, "POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS" !!!!!
