The variety of people; the sidewalks covered in black spots from gum; strange people; lights; new stores opening; old stores closing; what the newspaper says that day..

Think of the big main ideas as well as the small details such as the gum on the sidewalk. I live in NYC, and I went to a new area with no gum and perfectly clean sidewalks, and I realized that the place was Very un-city just because of its' cleanliness. Made me feel not at home.
