Will I get my money back? It has been dropped since last November.

I agree with others. It depends on the contract. And, if he is any good, the contract is written to let him keep the money.

If the money was a downpayment or advance of projected 'billable hours', you might be due something back.

If it was a retainer, it is his, even if he didn't do anything.

Impossible to say with just this much info....What kind of case was it? If you just paid him two weeks ago and the case was dropped last November, what did you think was going on? If the guy took your money knowing full good and well the case did not exist you should ask for your money back. If he won't give you a refund, threaten to file a grievance with your State Bar. Then do it.

If he is a good lawyer, then no. The paperwork that you signed before he took you would have spelled out that there are no refunds.
