Any Meerkat Manor fans? I watched the episode where Flower died from a snake bite defending her pups. I was balling. That is so sad. I love that show but I end up crying half the time! :-( Anyone else feel this way??

Meerkat Manor is a great show . The Ultimate Reality Show and unfortunately the circle of life is the true reality of life.
But that does not mean it isn't sad to watch quite the opposite.

R.I.P. Flower we will miss you.

Yes. It is a very suspenseful show. One minute you are laughing because the pups are rolling around playing and the next minute you are biting your nails because the rival gang is closing in on the pups and baby sitters. It has it's ups and downs.

I was crying really hard when I watched the "Journey's End" episode in which Flower died. I kept thinking "what if", like "what if the Zappa's had just continued to carry Axle" or "what if Flower had just left Axle". It is so sad that Flower's life was cut so short, but she did go out protecting her family. It was hard seeing the shot of her face all swollen. Jeeze, just thinking about it is making me tear up again!

I love that show too. But any show with an animal that dies gets my waterworks going. If you have ever had pets that are gone now read a little essay called The Rainbow Bridge. You can google it and read it there. The passage was in a book I just read and after reading it I think I cried for half an hour. I've had many cats and dogs over the years that are no longer here and it just got to me cuz they were all so special.

It is a shame that Flower is dead, but the study team and film crew are not allowed to interfere with the meerkats. Sometimes the things they have to do are tough, like leaving the pup with a deformed paw to fend for itself three weeks ago.

I am still trying to figure out why that show is so addictive. I suppose we find meerkats to be "cute".

Yeah, this is the saddest one yet. It's scary because I'm worried how the whole family will do without her great leadership. It's such an addicting and awesome show. But yes, you're aren't the only one who cries. My girlfriend used to love the show but she refuses to watch it anymore because it's too sad. I explained to her that's the cycle of life, and it's not fair most of the time. I tell her how if the birds didn't eat them, they'd die of starvation. She understands, but can't bear to watch. I couldn't imagine how hard it is on the researchers who can't interfere and have held and watched Flower for years.

It was an extremely sad episode. It is a shame to see an animal pass on but it is nature. She died doing the right and extremely brave thing.
