You have to ask????
Many Americans and some other countries are very untrusting to Middle easterners because most of the terrorism, bombings, and abductions for the past 35 yrs have come out of the Middle East. They also believe that all Middle Easterners are Muslims and possible extremists.
Too many people believe what they hear off of televison and newspapers and so stereotype all associated with that group of people. Heck, back in the early and late 40's many people felt the same about all people from any asian country. They even went so far during the war that the Government actually made a refugee camp for Japanese Americans from all over the US to make sure that Americans would not hurt them and/ or to contain possible spys or sympathizers.
I am sorry if you are of Middle Eastern decent and this is happening to you or someone you know, but you can't blame them for how they feel. My favorite quote is..........
"Believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see"
That is why I hardly watch CNN unless it is live such as a debate or live footage and reporting at the scene. Good luck to you and your friends my friend,

If in UK it is not just confined to Iranians and middle easterners. Why is that some people look for a difference just so they can do that

Not sure, it may be a mixture of both fear and just not knowing the culture.
