Santa Clause has been commercialized with magicial abilities like flying in his sled and working with little green elfs.
Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, or simply "Santa" is a legendary and historical character associated with bringing gifts on Christmas Day.
Saint Nicholas of Myra is the primary inspiration for the Christian figure of Santa Claus. He was a 4th century Christian bishop of Myra in Lycia, a province of the Byzantine Anatolia, now in Turkey. Nicholas was famous for his generous gifts to the poor, in particular presenting the three impoverished daughters of a pious Christian with dowries so that they would not have to become prostitutes. He was very religious from an early age and devoted his life entirely to Christianity.

It is my honest belief, sir, and I presume from the other answers, that your question starts from a mistaken premise, as there are numerous and thorough studies that have demonstrated the harmful effects of smoking and thus cannot possibly be answered when taken as a whole.
On the simple matter of "Why don't people believe in Santa?", once again you start from a mistaken premise because my 4 year old daughter sure believes in him.
Of course if you refuse to accept the errors at the base of your questions, then feel free to smoke yourself to death, as long as you don't do it near those who do believe in Santa Clause.

You mean 'than there is' not 'then there is'.

Don't talk daft , there is plenty of reliable evidence to show the harmful effects of smoking. I have actually seen a lung from a non-smoker and a lung from a heavy smoker and I can assure you that there was a LOT of difference. The smoker's lung was full of tar, which blocked the alveoli so restricting oxygen absorbtion.Lots of smokers in our class gave up after seeing them.
There have been umpteen surveys on lung cancer patients and in all cases smoking was shown to be a major cause. eg out of, say, 100 lung cancer patients, 85 were smokers and 15 non smokers. True, non smokers can get lung cancer and smokers can avoid getting it but that is very unlikely.
Bronchitis and emphysemia have been shown to be aggravated by smoking too.
Wow, am I glad that that disgusting practice has been banned in our indoor public places.Smokers can poison themselves but they won't poison me any more.

Mmmm, lots of my older relatives are prematurely lying in the cemetary thanks to the effects of smoking, my grandfather had multiple strokes and heart attacks and didn't reach 60, my uncle had lung cancer at 50 and my father died of a heart attack at 64, not particularly old in an age when a man should reasonably expect to live at least until his mid 80s. Maybe if you lived with the harmful effects of smoking, or could see into the lungs of a prematurely dead smoker, you would see it in a different light.

Because many people don't believe in what they can't see. It's a shame really, it seems many people have forgotten to believe. I am 21 and still believe in Santa and other mythical creatures and until someone can prove to me that they DON'T exist, I will.

because the person who puts out the presents under the tree is your parents? i like the spirit of christmas but i dont believe in santa, i believe in the spirit that it brings us...really confusing.

is people dying of lung disease from tar in your lungs that is inhaled from the cigarette not enough evidence from you?? when i was younger, my dad went out with this girl for 8 years that smoked like a chimney and i had asthma attacks and had to inhale medicine...now she's gone. and i dont have to do any of those things anymore. coincidence? i dont think so...

there is evidence of the effects...tons of it.

Now, that is not true. I thought it would read : there's as much evidence of Santa as of God, which would be true of course. But that smoking increases the likelihood of cancer and heart disease (among others) is a proven fact
